High & Lonesome - Irish Murphys

Dec 6 2007 - 8:30pm
Australia Day 2006

The High & Lonesome all-singing and dancing high in the saddle big band is a monthly Thursday regular at Irish Murphys until the end of the year.

They’ve built a bit of a following and the crowds just seem to be getting better, as are all the High & Lonesome boys as they pump out a pretty solid night of tight arrangements, fine instrumental work, three part vocal harmonies and a big driving bottom end as Yardup and Reinhart kick along a rocking rhythm on skins and doghouse bass.

With Chips, Chopsticks and Slim taking care of the singing and swapping instruments, Mr Russell Spiller can be found at his finest – totally winging it. The boys have pretty much decided they don’t need to rehearse with Russell as it just confuses him.

A great night of classic covers, folk, country and bluegrass done as only they can. Attracting punters of all ages to Geelong’s best roots music venue, Irish Murphys. The craic is 100.

Lunch on Lorne

Dec 2 2007 - 1:00pm
TasTour06-31

High & Lonesome are playing at Lunch on Lorne - an early summer annual community day for the small army of workers and business families who keep Lorne the way Melbourne's Beach House folk like it.

All the fun of the fair with food and drink, a North vs South Tug o'War and localish music from the excellent senior local school bands, us, of course, and Dalriada.
