Husking Corn at Port Fairy
Another fabulous Port Fairy Folk Festival has come and gone and the boys and girl survived three days and nights of stellar music and the demands of the nightly Green Room.
The weekend began in earnest with Yardup sitting in on drums for the Unwanted Men in Black and a Lady at Folk Worx late Friday night. Highly entertaining, especially Uncle Arthur having trouble finding the right harmonica for his long awaited solo on Folsum Prison. read more »

Port Fairy Folk Festival 2007
The Cornhuskers at Port Fairy Folk Festival
The Cornhuskers will be making their debut at Port Fairy with their distinctive take on Americana roots music from Merle Travis and Doc Watson to Johnny Cash and Steve Earle, with some hot fiddle tunes thrown in for good measure.
The CornHuskers present a fresh and eclectic look at American country roots music from the 1940s and ’50s. Featuring lovely harmonies and a vibrant, stripped-back acoustic sound, this lonesome and heartbroken blend cuts straight to the quick. Performing the music of Merle Travis, Johnny Cash, Bob Wills, Hank Williams and Doc Watson, to name a few, this diverse and original acoustic group packs a real punch with both their instrumental flair and ‘straight up’ delivery!

January studio session with the Cornhuskers

It's always a little stressful in a studio setup. You gotta sit where they tell you and you gotta be on your best behaviour. But with lunch, nibbles, cold water and cold beer we had a lot of fun and did really well I think. read more »
